Northern Plains
Dinotopia | Backbone Mountains | Blackwood Flats | Forbidden Mountains | Great Desert | Outer Island | Rainy Basin | Western Coast | World Beneath | Waterfall City
The Northern Plains stretch across the north of the main island, from Windy Point at the western side to Crackshell Point at the eastern side.
Like the other shorelines, it has seen a decrease in sea-level.
Built from the wood of a forest felled by a storm long ago, Treetown is a settlement built in the very trees themselves 1,585 meters (5,200 ft) above sea-level. Treetown perches in the canopy of an oak forest, with ladders being the usual means of access for dwellings. Tilled fields, barns, and botanical gardens can be found nearby.
Treetown is also where young people go to learn how to live together in accord with dinosaurs, as a kind of summer camp. At the end of their training, they will compete in the Dinosaur Olympics at Cornucopia.
The sheer sturdiness and age of the trees in which Treetown is built has allowed it to escape relatively unscathed in comparison to other major cities. While a number of its bridges and houses have broken, the trees themselves are of such girth and root that very few of them fell. Most of the damage was caused by furniture and possessions flung about.
In the interest of aiding others, Treetown has collaborated with Cornucopia to spearhead the first-aid response. Treetown is one of the primary suppliers for Canyon City, and its borders have swelled with refugees.

Cornucopia is most known for the Dinosaur Olympics, which are held here annually. Competitors are youths who have completed their training at the nearby Treetown. The Dinosaur Olympics most famous event is the Ring Riding Event, where teams comprising of a deinocheirus, a girl, and a boy compete to capture the greatest number of rings in the right colour.
The Habitat Partners are typically chosen from the victors of the Dinosaur Olympics.
Cornucopia fared decently well in the aftermath of the earthquake, enough that they are now coordinating with Treetown to support the two cities worst-hit. Like Treetown, Cornucopia has taken in a great many refugees, and is the site for coordinating Volcaneum’s relief efforts.
