Rules

Respectfulness

This should always go without saying. Be respectful of player boundaries and keep in mind the in-character and out-of-character divide. Godmoding other characters is covered under this, but should be mentioned separately; don’t do it. Communication is key in this kind of interaction, so please keep as many avenues open as possible, and keep in mind that other players have lives other than roleplay.

Mods will work on a three-strike system. That being said, if a player consistently makes the game an uncomfortable place for others without actively breaking any rules, the mods reserve the right to take action. This includes banning, regardless of number of strikes a player may already have.

Fourth-walling

Fourth-walling is allowed as per the constraints of the game, but you should always check with the relevant players before doing so, especially if it’s in public. Rule of thumb is that if it’s anywhere it might be heard or seen by the characters from the applicable canon, whether it’s directed at them or not, check first or refrain.

Warnings

Always warn for the standard uncomfortable contents: sex, violence, and so forth. If in doubt, put the main text of the log under a cut and place a warning, and if someone makes a reasonable request to include a warning in a posted log, please do so.

ICness

There is no hard-and-fast rule with ICness. However, there should always be a logical reason for character changes, and mods will take appropriate action if it’s brought to their attention that a player is significantly changing their character without due cause.

Activity

This isn’t meant to be a fast and intense game, but please do keep on top of activity. If players consistently scrape by on the bare minimum, tag only a handful of people, or take frequent haituses to avoid activity checks, mods reserve the right to give them activity strikes. Haituses happen, but if they are happening frequently for long periods, please do consider whether the game is an appropriate fit for you.

Activity checks are based on a reward system, though there is a basic activity constraint—that is, what you have to pass to stay in the game. Activity checks are posted on the first of every month, and last for a week. They only include tags posted from the first day to the last day of any given month.

The basic AC is:
  • two threads making up six tags each OR
  • an open post and one thread making up six tags OR
  • two open posts.

Letters and simple notes do not count toward AC. Threads with NPCs do, provided NPC threads do not constitute any more than half of the activity offered. Subsequent activity should also display a preference toward player activity; persistent reliance upon NPCs (ie, three months wherein a full half of activity is from NPCs) may result in a strike. Characters who are less than ten days in the game can request a ‘Newbie strike’ which allows them to pass activity for the month, but they will need to pass next month’s activity.

More details regarding the rewards system are on the FAQs page or the activity page.

Post-tagging

For the purposes of housekeeping, please tag your posts! Do so both with character and with the type of post—ie:
  • whether it’s a log (either prose or actionspam)
  • a message (a written message, that is)
  • a communication (via radio, or any such audio/video means).

This is particularly because all the in-character content is in one community. The mods will need this for the activity checks, so it’s to the player benefit if you do so.

Funtimes!

Obligatory ‘have fun’ rule here.
